Description: Here's the deal: I created and copyrighted "University of Luckenbach" in 1979 while the great Waylon Jennings hit song of Luckenbach, Texas, was still a recent release. I thought a town like Luckenbach needed a univerisity, so I created one. In name only. Austin American-Statesman editorial cartoonist Ben Sargent was a friend, so I hired him to produce the really cool art. Ben Sargent later won a Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning (though, inexplicably, not for this particular piece...) I produced custom-lettered "diplomas" and these T-shirts. I even advertised both in Texas Monthly. It was a big hit in the early 1980s, but time passed. Flash forward some 40+ years. Cleaning out my attic recently I found a box of unsold T-shirts--that's what's listed here. I have a dozen shirts in various sizes, still in mint condition. Some have orange trim, some have navy trim as shown. The art is the same on both. T-shirts made of 100% cotton back then were a rarity, so these are a 50/50 cotton/poly blend. And, you should probably choose the next size up from your regular size, because they seem to run small by today's standards. I found a USED T-shirt of this design just sold (Feb. 3) on ebay for $59.99 + shipping. I'll sell these NEW shirts for $34.99 + shipping. Could be a win all the way around. I have with NAVY trim: S, M, XL. No L. I have with ORANGE trim: S, L only. That's it...there ain't no more. Buy it now or it's gone forever.
