Description: VTG. LG. MID-CENTURY MARQUETRY INLAID WALNUT & MAPLE CHEST W/HORSE HEAD & BRIDLE A lovely mid-century chest for your consideration. It is lined with what appears to be felt. I do not know its original function, but I have seen similar chests used for holding game cards, chips, die, and cups. There is also the "trigger" portion of a music box present. The box measures 14" x 8.5" on the interior and is in very good condition commensurate with age and use. The surface bears evidence of craquelure as to be expected in an old shellac-polished finish. There are other minor blemishes which would doubtless buff clean with lemon or orange oil and powered pumice if you so desired. Overall, a very handsome box for your favorite nick-nacks. The red table is just for a base to photograph on. Chest only!:)
