Vtg Hand Knit Norwegian Wool Geometric Cardigan Sweater Jacket Pewter Buttons

Description: A custom hand knit Norwegian wool cardigan jacket sweater with an eye catching geometric pattern of brown, beige and cream, and finished with 8 pewter buttons. Not a snowflake or reindeer in sight. Made for me in the late 1970s by Liv, a local Norwegian knitter. This unisex sweater can fit both medium and small, depending on how one wants to wear it ~ as a jacket with sweaters beneath it, or not. Please check measurements to understand how it might fit you. I am small but was into layering so this was quite roomy without sweaters beneath it. CONDITION: There are no holes, stains, rips, runs, raveling, pilling, felting, or odors. On the reverse are some loops of yarn that drop. I do not knit so asked a knitter friend why it did this and learned that it is a technique done by advanced knitters. The knitter carries one color along, only tacking it in a few places on the back, to be picked up later in the pattern, rather than tying & cutting every time a new color is needed. It is often done in complex designs so that you do not have so many knots and woven in pieces. Unless they are cut and pull out entirely, they won't affect the pattern on the front.
