Description: Vtg HAND CARVED African Man SERPENTINE STONE Head Sculpture Bust Shona ZimbabweExquisite Quality, Carved From One Solid Piece Of What I Believe Is Serpentine Stone- very heavy with a variation of green, grey, and tan colors occurring naturally throughoutThis gorgeous sculpture is carved with wonderful and very lifelike skill, and portrays the head of an African man. The expression on his face is wonderful- special attention has been given to his eyes, nose, and lips to give him a truly realistic look.He is quite unusual in that these stone carvings of men typically have facial hair or beards. Nice detailing marks in his hair as well.He looks great from all angles, and has a very good profile. Size Approx. 3.75" Tall x 4" deep from his nose to the back of his head. Approx. 3.25" wide from ear to ear. Base of neck is 1.5" diameter Very Good Condition Would list as 'excellent' but for some surface scuffing which is visible but very shallow, and quite typical for these stone pieces. No chips, no nicks, no cracks, no repairs. Color of stone is variegated, rich, and glossy. Has a very nice sheen.This is a piece that will look stunning on display and would make a beautiful addition to any Art collection.
