Description: Vtg Early Perthshire Crieff Millefiori Twist Art Glass Paperweight P Center EUC. This was purchased in the early 1970's and comes from my mother's estate. Perthshire created some of the most exquisite, high quality paperweights of the twentieth century. Perthshire began in 1968 by Stuart Drysdale in Crieff, Scotland. The company's first workers came from Vasart Glass and Strathearn Glass in Scotland and included John Deacons, who would later open his own company, and Peter McDougall, who made beautiful millefiori weights with the smallest of canes in his designs. He became manager and chief glass maker. ~ from Identifying Twentieth Century Perthshire Paperweights by Mary Haberstroh Most pre-1979 Perthshire weights have a "P" cane to designate the company as does this gorgeous millefiori design with 10 twist cane spokes. Multicolor pastel flowers pop against a teal blue green base. It is believed this paperweight is a Peter McDougall creation.McDougall's paperweights at Perthshire were very detailed and his trademark small star canes in pastel colors are popular among collectors. His small canes were very detailed, showing every star and flower inside the cane. He would also combine pastel colored canes with ribbons twisted throughout the weight design, achieving a stunning effect. Perthshire closed their factory in early 2002 making this stunning paperweights a highly desired collectible. This paperweight is in beautiful pre-loved condition with no chips, cracks, fleabites, repairs or defects. It retains its original label on the bottom of the base. It measures approximately 3" across and approximately 2.25" high. My listings come from a smoke free home. This will be sent via Priority Mail.
