Description: This listing is for an antique playbill theatre magazine "The Boston Theatre Magazine" from the 1933 - 1934 season. The magazine was published weekly. This one is for a play at the Shubert Theatre, "The Ten Minute Alibi" written by Anthony Armstrong, and directed by Herman Shumlin; the sixth play of the American Theatre Society. The cast is shown in the 3rd photo above. Because this was the Great Depression, there weren't as many ads, and most had no illustrations or photos. There were ads for other shows, and for my favorite "Tea Dances Every Saturday Afternoon" at the Sheraton Room at the Copley-Plaza Hotel. Also a favorite, the restaurant Pieroni's Sea Grills with special dinners starting at 75 cents. Heh. There is an Elizabeth Arden ad (I think just about every playbill ever in the last century had an Elizabeth Arden ad), and other restaurants - the Old Oyster House, Brighams Cafe (the finest Lobster Newburgh), and Brick Oven Tavern. It has 15 pages with a few small flaws - slight wrinkling from handling, a crease across the middle with a tiny tear at the crease on the edge, and some doodles on the front and back.
