Description: A collection of 20 cancelled checks --all dated 1883 from the St. Johnsville, NY First National Bank --signed by A. Smith & Co. I couldn't find out who this was but my guess is that he was a merchant based on the check amounts. --Still in very good condition for age (some folding, creases, stains and a few holes)--I found it interesting that one could sign anywhere on the back.
