Description: Although the chain saw carving is primitive, the sculptor used his machine with a deft touch giving texture to the bear's fur and a thoughtful expression to his face. The statue is 12" high at the tip of the ears and the base is 6" in diameter. There is bark all around the base. Unusually the sculptor didn't use stain or varnish on the bear. Instead he used a blowtorch to scorch and blacken the raised surfaces, giving them a dark patina and adding depth to the carving. When you move the bear from place to place, a wood smoke smell lingers in the air but not when it is still. Honestly, I struggled mightily with the lighting in the pictures. The bear is not as red as in the close up pictures and has more of the black patina. If you wish, the bear can hold a flag. The vintage flag in the pictures has a one quarter inch dowel. It's not sold with the bear. Questions are quickly and cheerfully answered. Please view my other posts for more items from my Cottage & Cabin collection and holiday decor.
