Today it’s used to make ultra-lightweight high-strength tents and backpacks. The shell comes with two giant side pockets that wrap around from the front of the jacket, over the hips and all the way to behind your back. You’re going to be carrying stuff all the time when you live off grid, so they’re big enough to carry anything you need to take with you, from tools to plants. If you simply want to keep your hands warm, they’re also fleece lined. There are also two large, angled chest pockets. And all the pockets are kept watertight with storm flaps and waterproof zips.
