Description: The item for sale is a 10" Columbia Masterworks 33 1/3 RPM record from 1950, ML 2107. It is a Long Playing Microgroove Nonbreakable. It is titled Bizet: Jeux D'Enfants Op. 22 (Children's Games) by Vitya Vronsky & Victor Babin. I found an article in the May 27, 1950 "The Billboard" which said the following about the record. Twelve short pieces make up this suite for piano four hands, which, as far as we have been able to ascertain, has not been recorded in the original form prior to this charming Vronsky-Babin version. Portions of an orchestral transcription, done for a Massine ballet of the same title as the suite, have been recorded, but this is the first opportunity to hear the entire original work as written. The music is impressionistic - short, fragile, and delightful vignettes of the world of children - "The Swing," "The Top," "The Doll," "Merry-Go-Round," and so on. Scarcely a mass-appeal item, but a find for students, Bizet-ites and followers of the popular piano team. I had to wash some mildew off of the record but it plays well with only light clicks. I rate it as VG or VG- and it really is enjoyable to listen to and does not have any skips, jumps, or loud clicks on my equipment. The center label still is very nice but has some dark spots since it is clear this was kept in a damp area at some point. The jacket definitely has seen better days, if got damp and has de-laminated on the front, has mildew stains, and the back has lost a large section of the printing. See the pictures which are of the actual item and show the damage. The pictures make up a part of this description. I think this is quite rare, even in 1950, and to someone who would appreciate the music, it could be quite a find.
