This is a fully restored and upgraded system that will play as brand new for another 30 years, picture perfect GUARANTEED! All components that have or will go bad, have all been replaced with either OEM or upgraded parts - new capacitors, new internal Cardosi eyepiece ribbons solder on, both internal eyepieces replaced, audio board replaced, and new aluminum medallion for OEM stand. Unlike other sellers, I GUARANTEE my Virtual Boy system is fully functional and to be free of black or error lines due to dead LEDs or any transparent lines or screen etching due to dirty internal lenses giving picture perfect gameplay every time! I can confidently say this in comparison to other sellers who may even performed a ribbon cable solder fix and checked their work on the Mario Tennis game, only because there is so much black to hide potential dead LEDs or marks on the internal lenses. I know this because I do quality checks not just using Mario Tennis, but 12 other games listed below, some of whom have lots of red that pick out the visual defects that slip past games like Mario Tennis. So take satisfaction you're getting a fully functioning and upgraded OEM Virtual Boy!!!! Upgrades and Work Done1. Both OEM internal PCB eyepiece defective ribbon cables have been replaced and upgraded with Cardosi Eyepatch ribbon cables soldered in giving picture perfect gameplay all the time. 2. Both internal PCB eyepieces that came with this system had LEDs that had given out which showed a line in each viewing lens. Both internal eyepieces were replaced with donor internal PCB eyepieces from another Virtual Boy to give this system picture perfect gameplay. 3. ALL CAPACITORS in the Virtual Boy head unit have been replaced with brand new capacitors from Console5 to ensure the computer electronics will keep running for another 30 years without worry of failing. 4. Viewing lenses have been cleaned and polished for better viewing. 5. Main unit shell, controller shell, eyeshade holder, stand braces, membranes, and buttons have been hand washed. 6. Medallion from the OEM stand has been replaced and upgraded with a machined aluminum medallion. This expensive aluminum medallion ($25 from my vendor and $50 on eBay) is tough and will NEVER break under normal use unlike OEM and aftermarket medallions that may come loose or crack over extended periods of time. Tightening or loosening adjustments can be made with a size 2 Allen wrench. I also want to note, that these machined aluminum medallions were made under a limited run a while ago. I have 3 of these medallions left after this sale. I can't find another supplier of these at a reasonable price. So, once I'm out, I'm out. And I won't be able to make another system with these again. 7. During quality checks, it was discovered that the audio would not turn off regardless of the volume wheel being put in the off position. I was able to get a donor audio board from another Virtual Boy and switch the new capacitors over. Performed another audio quality check and the replacement audio board performed great! Condition As mentioned before, the condition of the box in my opinion is in a 7.5-8 out 10 condition. There might be a light scratch on the head unit that I may have missed but it is in very excellent condition. The controller has 2 small scratches on right side faceplate. The Japanese Mario Tennis works great, comes with it's box and inserts, and game itself in excellent condition. I also want to note that the visor for this system is OEM and came with it. More than half the time I get a system with an OEM visor, it is usually in pretty bad condition. However, this one isn't. To my surprise, it's as though it came right out of the factory. As an FYI, the OEM visor has Nintendo logo markings on the inside. Replacement visors have a near perfect feel and performance, but only OEM visors have the inner Nintendo markings on them. I've put in many hours and hard work into this. Fully functional internal eyepiece PCBs are getting somewhat harder and harder to come by due to the aging 224 LEDs in each eyepiece. For this system, I needed 2 donor internal eyepiece from another Virtual Boy in order to get the picture-perfect quality performance. Which means it's getting more costly for me to put one of these together. Worse, I've seen other sellers price their box systems at my price AFTER I've posted my listing with ZERO work done and nothing added to the system to really make it a true collectable. No preventative maintenance. No library gameplay verification of dead LEDs. No added features like the clear acrylic controller stand to display with your system or aluminum medallion installed on the stand that will never break.
