Description: Offering for sale a set of four Yupik Indian hunter and fisherman dolls. One of the dolls is signed by Beulah Oittillian (b. 1947) a master doll maker whose work is displayed in the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC as well as collections around the world. The other three dolls are not signed, but are very similar to the signed figure. I believe they are made by the same artist, but I cannot guarantee. Oittillian’s art is handmade in Gambell, Alaska on St. Lawrence Island and are representative of the Siberian Yupik Native American Indian tribe. The dolls are made from all natural materials such as sealskin, sinew, and caribou bone. The fisherman are approximately 10 inches long and 6 inches high. The standing hunters are approximately 9 inches tall. Each of the figures does have wear consistent with age. They are from a nonsmoking home. One of the standing figures has holes in its clothing as pictured. The other figures do have some similar wear, but not nearly as pronounced. I took pictures from many different angles so any potential buyer can judge the condition prior to purchasing.
