Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list! This listing is for a vintage "Meliphone Special" mouthpiece for Bb tenor saxophone. These were made by 'The Woodwind Co.', although they are not actually marked as such. It is stamped 'Steel Ebonite", which was their term for hard rubber. This would be a 'NEW YORK', era WWco. piece, the most desirable period for this manufacturer. It has flat, slightly undercut, inner side walls. The chamber is "A" shaped, but with an arched top. This piece is stamped B4 on the table, however it has been refaced. There is no indication of who did the refacing. As with any unknown refaced piece, I would suggest that you may want to send this to a trusted mouthpiece refacer for evaluation, and have it adjusted if deemed necessary. That being said, it does play quite well in its current state. It speaks easily and has a nice mellow tone. The tip opening is quite closed though, measuring in at just .060". This mouthpiece is in very good condition. The tip, table, and rails are perfectly smooth. There are no tooth gouges on the beak. There are some light scratches, but nothing that would affect playability. The rubber is still black and shiny, and the logo/markings are clear. This mouthpiece has been cleaned/sanitized. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking! TMG-50
