Description: Guy Hedick Hooper married Hattie Belle Cochran of Conroe in 1923. This vintage suit was hand tailored for Hattie Bell Cochran/Hooper. I acquired this item from the grandson of Hattie, who is now 72 years old. This suit has been stored in the family home for decades. It has been in a climate controlled smoke free, pet free environment. there is a picture of Hattie posted here. She is the first woman from the right in the photograph. You will notice that there is a metal clip in multiple places with the name guy Hooper. Indicating this suit was ordered, or at least paid for by Guy Hooper. The jacket does bear the tag of the store from which it was sold and also that of the designer. However, it was clearly hand sewn. The skirt does not bear any tags. It may be that the skirt was made to match the jacket. The fabric is the same. The photographs really tell the story of this amazing garment, which is very likely close to 100 years old and in pristine, absolute pristine condition. I find not one single flaw anywhere. SKIRT: waistline 33 inches Length 32 1/2 inches skirt at bottom hem 46 inches Skirt and measurement going down 16 inches from waist line 44 inches (I’m estimating this to be the hip.) JACKET: shoulder Seam to shoulder Seam 17 inches Sleeve length 23 inches Waist line 36 inches Armpit to armpit 21 inches Length from shoulder to hem 24 inches Length from top of back collar to hem 25 inches Length Armpit to hem 13 inches The button holes are bound. The button on the jacket is hidden meaning you cannot see it on the inside. The jacket has shoulder pads inside the lining. I think the lining might be silk, but I cannot be sure. Note that as this is a hand tailored handcrafted garment there is ample opportunity for alterations if needed. For example, you can feel in the sleeve that there is a good 1 inch of fabric hemmed. If I were to own this garment, for example I would need to have the sleeves lengthened, and this could be done easily. The closures buttons hooks and eyes snaps, etc., are in perfect working condition. I am really quite amazed and privileged to have come across this item in its condition with this quality and craftsmanship. There are no prayers, snacks, stains defects whatsoever. I noticed that the photographs seem to show variations in the color of the garment. This is simply the lighting affect on the photographs. Both the jacket and the skirt are the exact same color. And the darker brown is the actual color.
