Description: I have spent 4 weeks trying to figure out what brand of roller skates these are of my moms from the 1950's. The tongue of the shoe has some kind of foam on the inside of it and the brands that have this is: Gill Ash, Chicago & Brooks. However, on my skates, there is no line going from the tip of toe, going back to the hole where the laces start and those other brand of skates do have that stitched line. Also, I thought it could possibly be Hyde for awhile because they have the foam on the tongue as well and do not have any line up the toe on some but yet up the back of the skate there is a double straight line stitched and mine has 2 stitched lines but one is like a stretched out S and the other is like a stretched out backwards S. So, I don't believe now I have the Hyde brand. Unless they have different models with different characteristics. I have now just given up on finding out for sure the exact brand of boot I have. There are no labels left inside and the very bottom of inside sole of boot, there is no writing left. It has worn off. My mom has wooden wheels on the skates. They are Chicago brand Pat. No. 2-333-400 it looks like and then in middle it has NO. 87 SP. On the metal skate bracket underneath the boot, it is stamped on the metal: Chicago Roller Skate Ware Bros. Pat. Aug 15, 1915. Made in USA. Then off to the side of that is a big 3 stamped in metal. The rubber toe stopper is not round but is flat on the bottom with 6 tiny round holes in it and going up over the toe. I added the purple fluffy pom pom as these were the rage in the 80's and it matched my purple satin jacket I wore to the rink every weekend. I was definitely a "rink-rat". The white leather is in really good shape. The brown sole of shoe has some scuffs from me skating in them when I was a kid. I was rough on them. I honestly do not know how I did it because the wheels stick out further than the soles so they should have protected them. The way the wheels were with these skates was you could take the skate key and loosen them up and you could then dance on them. The wheels would kind of turn inwards and outwards as you put pressure on the them in either direction. It made for skating backwards very easy with a partner. Right now, they are tightened up tight for just forward skating and do not rock side to side. I no longer have the skate key. The skates will come to you in the metal skate case. It is actually in pretty good condition for all the wear and tear it has been through the past almost 75 years. When you think about that, it is really great! The latches hold and lock good and do not come open on their own. Handle is not broken. Paper lining of case is all there just a little dirty from over the years. I have my name taped in upper left corner and am afraid to remove the paper because I do not want to tear the lining. I ship as soon as I receive payment and Items ship from Van Wert Ohio.
