Description: Zuni bear fetish channel inlaid earrings (post) with inlaid Sunface top by Zuni artist "Percy". The stones on the body of the bear are primarily turquoise with jet channels. The Sunface tops consist of finely inlaid coral, shell, jet and turquoise. They are approximately 1 1/8" long including the tops, 7/8" at their widest points and weigh approximately 6.8 grams. Bears are symbols of power, healing in the Native American culture. They represent strength, vitality, courage and health. They are thoughtful, protective, strong-willed and independent and known for their curative powers. Fetishes are highly respected and are mystical, powerful talismans valued by Native American and other cultures throughout the world. The animal spirit is believed to reside within the stone. The Zuni carvers are perhaps the best known. We purchased this fetish new for gallery inventory in 1993 and it has been in our safe since that time.
