The Viking Runes were used alongside our present-day alphabet up until the 14th century. I researched the meaning of the Runes on the base and they mean heirlooms, heritage; birth, growth, new beginnings; joy, comfort, pleasure; internal growth! The symbol in the center looks like a starburst. I was unable to find the meaning of that one. Could just be something the artist thought adorned the wood turning lathe mark. Starburts were very popular in MCM designs. I can only imagine that this was made for someone the artist loved dearly as a promise of what their life together would hold. ♥️Exact date of this piece is unknown. It’s truly one of a kind!
