Description: We offer for your consideration this vintage David White surveying Transit. This is a model 8014 DW Surveying transit from around 1955.This transit comes with it's original case, the leather strap has broken, but the case has done a nice job of protecting this piece of equipment. The transit looks to be in very good, but a little dusty condition, there is a set of three points, and it still has the lens cover, and a objective lens sunshade. The optics look a bit cloudy, and hopefully it can be serviced, and the optics cleaned. But this might not be an issue if it is to be used as a display piece. The case measures approximately 13 1/2 inches wide, by 6 inches deep, by 9 1/2 inches tall. The case is made of wood, with sturdy dovetail corner joinery. The case exterior shows signs of heavy use, with lots of scrapes and dings, but still looks and feel structurally sound. The leather strap has torn, buit the sturdy buckle could be repurposed in fabricating a new carry strap. If you are a collector of vintage surveying equipment, this Vintage DW Transit will be a very nice addition to your collection
