Unique, pre-owned hand thrown stoneware pottery goblet. This may simply be a piece of art pottery, a chalice, a goblet ...but the original owner kept this on display with her various Kiddush cups, Miriam's cups and other Judaica, so it seems likely that this was also used similarly. It is glazed in hues of deep greens, light blues and lavenders on the upper half and white on the bottom half.The upper portion of this goblet is fully glazed, but done in such a way to allow the rich dark brown stoneware to show through the glazenear the top.Decorating the bottom portion are inset gems and shell (looks like shell) ...a round amethyst cabochon, a rose quartz heart shape, and what I believe to be oval pieces of shell.These appear to be glued into the clay, so I wouldn't wash this in adishwasher. Measurements:nearly 8" tallabout 2¾" wide at the rimabout 3" wide at the foot There is what appears to be a signature inside the opening at the base of the goblet.(see last seven photos)I think it looks like "April" ?? something I cannot decipher.Maybe it's a date and not a name?
