Description: ARRIBA was a Spanish daily newspaper published in Madrid between 1935 and 1979. It was the official newspaper of Falange (1935-1936) then suspended during the Spanish Civil War- before being started up again under the regime of Francisco Franco. This 1954 edition of the Arriba newspaper was published during the rule of dictator Francisco Franco - President of the Government of Spain from 1939-1975. Don Francisco Franco Bahamonde (1892-1975) was a Spanish general who led the Nationalist forces in overthrowing the Second Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War and thereafter ruled over Spain from 1939 to 1975 as a dictator, assuming the title "Caudillo". This period in Spanish history, from the Nationalist victory to Franco's death, is commonly known as Francoist Spain or the Francoist dictatorship. Front cover article entitled "Caudillo Day". Great piece of Spanish history. Newspaper has 6 pages (including front and back covers), measures 12" x 15.25", and is in good vintage condition. A tear on front cover edge and last page - as well as rough edges and "browning" throughout. Crease from being folded in half. Check pictures for complete condition.
