Description: September 1939 issue of Photoplay magazine, with Shirley Temple on the cover, cover photo taken by Paul Hesse who shot 100's of magazine covers during his long career. Magazine is oversize, measuring 10 1/2" x 14" and contains a front and back cover and 96 interior pages, all of which are present, except one page-see below). Please see my photo of the table of contents page to see all that is in this magazine, with these Highlights: great 2 page ad for the Wizard of Oz movie, artilce on Loretta Young and her problems with fraud; new movie by James Cagney; article on Jimmy Stewart; 8 pages on fashion, including furs; what is going on in each of the major studios; many stories, pictures and information about all the popular movie stars; very interesting ads and other items that will be of interest. This is a very special interesting issue, with a great cover. Condition overall is very good. The front cover has some creases in the right side; a few other creases in the lower left and there is a mailing label. The only thing I saw in the inside was it appears that one page with pictures on it has been removed, leaving a small potion of the page. The back cover looks good and the all important spine is solid, with only a very small piece at the top moving away from the rest of the magazine (see my photos). From a pet free and smoke free home-the magazine has no odor. Priced well below other offerings of this magazine by other ebay sellers.
