Description: Vintage Scalamandre Fabric FRENCH CHINOISERIE Silk 2 Yards STUNNING Upholstery. Offering two continuous yards of this incredible fabric. Scalamandre FRENCH CHINOISERIE. A luxurious pale gold background - the color of champagne. An elegant, hand-printed Chinoiserie style design; pagodas, rickshaws, Chinese junk boats. Delicate floral and foliage designs throughout. The colors are: red, magenta, sea foam, golden brown, eggplant, green and more. This is an older fabric, I sense it is from the 1980s based on the design and font choice in the selvage but I cannot say for sure. It is just a hunch. I actually contacted Scalamandre headquarters for more information. I was told “We looked in our older / no longer operational system and we could not find the item. That means it is at least older than 1992.” So, it is at least that old. The fabric has slubs here and there. It seems like a silk - shantung perhaps? I cannot say for certain- maybe it’s a viscose. I conducted a burn test - it was quick to light, self extinguished, paper/hair odor and left a soft black bead that was easily crushed. The fabric is in very good condition. You can see there are some wrinkles but this is just due to being rolled. There are no odors. Very beautiful one-of-a-kind fabric. The ultimate in luxury! Two yards. 50” width. Thanks for looking.
