Description: Good morning all. Here is a vintage Sandusky Tool Co., Made in USA, No. 47 1/4" slip boxed side beading plane. There are some dents on the heel, but not too many (pictures 9 and 10). The wedge has never been messed with. I think that the iron has the original factory edge, but it needs some honing love. NOTE that there is a "nick" in the vertical wall of the sole, about 1/2" long and not very deep (16th picture). I do not believe that this should have any effect on the ability of the plane to cut a bead. I don't see that the Sandusky Catalog online tells what wood the plane body would be, but it is a nice dense, heavy wood - the plane weighs just under 13 ounces.
