Description: Vintage Russian Peasant Wooden Folk Art Hand-Painted Woodpecker & Bird Toys Here we have two beautifully made Russian Childrens Toys, the Woodpecker pecks the Tree when the button on top is pressed and the Birds peck their food when the rod slides in and out. The Birds Toy carries it's original paper label. These were hand made and hand painted in Russia in the 1980s and were bought at a Beriozka store in Moscow. Beriozka was the overall name applied to two chains of state-run retail stores in the Soviet Union that sold goods in exchange for foreign currency. Beriozkas sold luxury goods such as chocolate and caviar that were often unavailable or unaffordable in traditional Soviet markets and shops, as well as Souvenirs for Tourists to take home from their Russian trip. The Woodpecker Toy stands approx. 16cm high and the Birds are approx. 23cm long x 7cm high Payment within 3 working days, returns only accepted if the item is not as described.
