Description: First, this is not "Roseville Pottery", i.e. the famous arts pottery company founded in 1890 by J.F. Weaver in Roseville, Ohio. It ultimately moved to Zanesville, OH, another pottery hub, and closed in 1954. But RRP does share similar beginnings and fame. The Ransbottom brothers also started a pottery company in Roseville, Ohio, and only 10 years later, in 1900. By 1916, they were the largest producer of stoneware jars in America. In 1920, they merged with Robinson Clay Products, which made bricks and tiles. The new name became RRP Company and the new entity expanded to include art pottery and gardenware as well as the functional products with which both original founders had begun. Unlike their more famous neighbor, they stayed in Roseville until finally closing down in 2005. This is from my late sister Betsy's pottery collection. We both grew up in nearby Pittsburgh, PA; she stayed and collected pottery, art and glassware from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia her whole, too short life. She'd want me to make sure this gets in good hands, like yours. Just a nice little jar to have handy during the holidays for candies or notes or car keys or whatever. Thanks for reading.Rick
