Description: Vintage REI Co-op Backpack Daypack 1970s? Needs Frame Old school REI backpack from what is probably the 1970s. I was born and raised here in Seattle and I shopped at this store back in the day. It was a funky old three story building with wood plank floors. At the time this was REI's only retail store. This backpack is not functional as is. It needs to attach to a frame. REI probably sold an aluminum or wooden frame for this. There are two sewn on pockets that would slide over top sides of a frame. The backpack is in nice condition. There are four zippered pockets (all functional) on the outside, three compartments inside with red fabric dividers and two small open top pockets. Some light surface rust on the buckles. It is approximately 22" in height, 16' wide and 7" deep. Free UPS Ground shipping.
