Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. If you are looking for something a little different for the vintage mic collection then you might want to consider this very unique and somewhat rare Altec 661B Dynamic microphone manufactured in the late 1950's / early 1960's. The mic has a very modern / contemporary design that was a signature part of Altec's line up. It comes with the cast iron Altec desk stand shown as well as the short cable. This hard to find 661B model was basically an upgraded 661A due to the impedance switch located on the side of the mic giving the user a w ide range of options with various audio equipment. It should be noted that this 661B has been tested and has an original non-working original dynamic element. Therefore this really should be used for nothing more than display, prop or repair purposes. It is completely possible to remove the old element and replace it with one that is functioning to make this operational again as the mic is wired correctly. That will be the buyers choice to make however. Until then this should be used only as a prop, display or repair piece. As you can see in the pictures provided this 661B had a practical design for it's time that resembled the much larger RCA BK-1 but was half the size and came in a beautiful hunter green paint scheme with gold front screen. This mic shows typical lite wear. There are just a few scratches and scuffs on the painted body. The front gold colored screen has zero dents or odors but there is some lite signs of tarnish. This mic has a perfect working joint mechanism with plenty of tension and pivots 180 degrees forward or backward. The impedance switch works fine as well. The mic comes with it's original but shortened cable that's in excellent condition being soft and pliable and has a vintage male Cannon XLR end connector. The cable is appx 12 inches long. Simply attach any longer XLR cable of choice to the one existing for operational use. Again, mic no longer works. The mic is appx 5 inches long X 1 1/2 inches wide. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is a a heavy, period Altec model. This is a 24A model I believe but I'm not positive. It makes for a very stable platform making it almost impossible to knock over. This base is thick cast iron with the stock hunter green paint scheme and short 1 1/2 inch satin chrome riser. The paint shows typical lite wear in the form of a few tiny scuff marks and scratches nut zero paint chips. The center chrome accent piece also shows just very lite corrosion. The accent piece is completely legible. The bottom of the base is missing the original cable clamp and has 3 new felt pads that will keep the stand from scratching any surface it rests on. The thumb screw on the riser allows you to tighten the mic or any mic clip tightly into place. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. Total dimensions with mic and stand are 8 1/2 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide X 6 1/2 inches long. This is going to draw plenty of attention anywhere it's displayed. As with all my vintage items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
