Description: Vintage Railroad/Train/Miner Delta Electric Company Lantern/Lamp -Rare 1938? - FREE SHIPPING This lantern is in fair condition. On the inside of the bottom of the lantern it has the date 9 38. I think this is the date it was made(1938)? This is a very old model. On the bottom of the lantern it does NOT have a patent no. It says PATENT PENDING. There are some rust spots, dents and wear. I will say it does not work. But, I don't have a battery to test it. It may work when you put a battery in it? I see many of these type lanterns listed and they are usually gray. This is red and there is no cage around the top that shows on many of the models being sold. The red ones I see selling are a square model. The plastic on the front of the lantern is in rough shape. It is plastic and warped. It is 9" tall with the handle. I got this out of my grandparents house when we were cleaning it out over 40 years ago. On the bottom of the lantern it has engraved:"DELTA POWERLITE LANTERN USES STANDARD 6 BOLT LANTERN BATTERY ANY MAKE AND MAZDA BULB No 26 OR EQUIVALENT TO INSERT BATTERY GIVE BOTTOM SLIGHT LEFT TWIST AND PULL OFFINSERT BATTERY WITH TERMINAL END FIRSTDELTA ELECTRIC COMPANYMARION, INDIANAMADE IN USAPATENT PENDING" On the inside bottom of the lantern there is paper with the following written on it:"DELTA POWERliteInsert battery with terminal ends first. Reassemble bottom. If bulbs will not light, remove battery and stretch contact springs on top of battery to proper length to make contact. This is necessary because some springs are collapsed in transit.
