Description: This listing is a for a highly unusual piece of Americana, snake oil medicine and an optical illusion all in one! Made by the Keystone View Company, known for their 3-D stereoscope photo viewers, comes this spinning “treatment” for vertigo, sometimes used for hypnosis. This is an item that is extremely hard to find information on, but it is clear that it is quite old. Likely made in the 1930s it is sometimes called the Dr Heitrick’s Vertigo Therapy, I am unable to find any information on this supposed MD. A beautiful vintage oddity, it does power up and spin both directions, however not reliably and not very fast. It appears that the speed is controlled by moving the metal box on the back up or down by depressing the green button and holding it as you slide the box on the rails. It does have some areas of paint loss, overall really stunning condition for its age. The disc is painted metal. There is also a small orange light that does illuminate when the object is turned on. It could probably use a tuneup and is being sold as is, for its interesting, mysterious origins as a piece of art. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own a real piece of junk medicine / historical oddity. It is currently on a tripod that I am happy to include with the purchase of the disc, it is an older tripod and large so it will increase the cost of shipping. The disc is just over 23” in diameter.
