Plugged bottom to fill with sand for holding heavier books. Measures 6 3/4 inches high by 5 3/8ths inches long and 2 3/8ths inches wide. Made in Japan. No cracks, chips, gouges or stains. I find some tiny scuffs commensurate with light handling and cleaning. There is one minute production flaw: a small area above one eye was not painted under the glaze.
