Description: This is a rare find — a wonderful collection of sterling silver bird pins by renowned Peruvian artist Graziella Laffi (1923–2009). There are two confirmed Laffi pins, stamped with her signature and 925 silver mark: G. Laffi Peru 925. This handmade jewelry is a unique combination of modern and pre-Columbian design. The centerpiece of the collection is a stunning 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch silver and enamel pin that weighs 27 grams. There is one smaller pin, also stamped with her signature and 925 mark, about 1 inch by 2 inches and weighing 8 grams. It has a turquoise-like stone for the eyes. Finally, there is a smaller 6 gram pin in the Laffi style but not stamped with her signature. It is included in the set at no extra charge. All of the pins date from the 1950s-1960s and are in excellent condition. Laffi’s work reflects her love of silver and her deep research in pre-Columbian cultures. In 2015, the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) held an exhibition of her work, dubbing her the “Spratling of Peru.” I prefer to sell this as a set, but will entertain offers for individual items.
