Description: Vintage Owl Drug Company Witch Hazel Glass Bottle/Medicine Bottle.Approximately 1920-1930. In very good condition. Bottle has no cracks or chips with a full label. There are only small areas in the label that show sign of wear. Crisp embossing of owl on back of bottle. Original cap with owl on it. 16 ounces. 8" tall Owl Drug Company was a chain of apothecary retail stores that sold rugs and patent medicines at a reduced cost. The first store opened in June 1892 in San Francisco and was advertised as the Drug Palace of the Pacific Coast. By 1918 there were 26 retail stores in California, Oregon and Washington. By 1937, there were more than 125 stores in the chain. The Owl Company went into bankruptcy in the late 1930's and was purchased by Rexall Drug Company. This bottle from my family's estate. In the process of downsizing; thus the reason for selling it.
