Description: Vintage original 6.75x5 black and white photo of a pre WWI German U-boat and crew. On the back is the title "Handels U-Boot Deutschland" which translates to "Merchant sub from Germany." Also on the back is another German inscription that translates to "U-boat crew before the first World War." These pre WWI U-boat precursors were designed for cargo transport during WWI to circumvent Allied blockades but they ultimately ended being used for offensive purposes once their potential as weapons of war was realized. Although this is not a WWII photograph we have included it in the WWII Select Items category due to its rarity and the fact that it would make a very unique item in any collection for admirers of history regarding the great wars.The photo is in great condition.
