Description: Early Norris dovetailed smoother with 2" iron. This was purchased in 2002 from Tony Murland, a respected UK tool dealer. Original docs are pictured. You may be able to establish a specific production date with research (try norrisplanes.com). The logo suggests it is earlier Model 2 but lever cap is not numbered. It was almost certainly produced well before the introduction of their adjustable planes in 1913. I believe infill and tote rosewood, but please verify from pictures. Wood is in good condition with a stable spit and a small chips off horn of tote, visible in pictures. There are also a few small slivers off the bun and several neat owners stamps. The metal is excellent with almost no pitting. You can see a few dovetails but most are almost invisible to the naked eye. Iron is Marples 3/16" parallel with Ward cap iron. The iron has a slightly skew grind, but fits to a tight mouth with cutting edge oriented correctly for use. Iron surfaces are in excellent condition. All of this is well represented in the pictures. It is a very nice looking plane. It can be honed and used as is. Please note, I cannot ship between Oct 16 and 22nd but will ship promptly on Oct 23 if you purchase during that window
