Description: If you or a relative ever worked at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda Maryland, this scrub top might be a memorable or sentimental item that you or your family can treasure for years to come. The manufacturer's label says "Men" but I think you could get away with Unisex. This vintage Scrub Top dates before 2000 (I found it at an estate sale around 2000). These medical scrubs were made by Dowling Textile Mfg. Co. Material is COTTON. A search on history of medical scrubs says the "Green" scrubs were became popular beginning in the 1960s because the white scrubs were causing too much eye strain. The green scrubs then became standard in the 1970s and green scrubs are still popular today. I have combed the internet and I notice I don't see the rounded neckline like this one has and the fact that green scrubs became popular in the 1970s I'm going to guess the date for this top could be anywhere from the 1970s to the 1990s. It is in great shape with no damage. My photos have done a fairly good job pinning down the actual color of the top. It is a very soft green and it was very hard to catch the true color in my the photos but I can say that photo #3 is the actual color. I worked on preparing this scrub top for 2 days and never once noticed any stains, until after I had finished taking all the photos and noticed the outdoors lighting showed a suspicious shadow on the lower part of the front. I had to look very hard for quite a few minutes to realize it is an old stain that had been cleaned many years ago, I need to mention this in case it makes a huge difference to you. I don't think you can even see it in any of my the photos. I wonder if a drycleaner can get it 100% gone, or if some OxiClean could? The history of the Naval Hospital is confusing to me. But it appears that in 2005 they closed both National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Center culminating in the opening of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda on 15 September 2011 These medical scrubs were made by Dowling Textile Mfg. MD. has me puzzled because I can't decide if is indicating the year that top was made, or is it some kind of stock number?
