Description: Soviet-era ‘Molnija’ Full Hunter mechanical (hand wind) pocket watch. Fully working – winds smoothly and keeps good time – and has an excellent appearance. It is approximately 5cm in diameter with a Red Star with ship to front (commemorating the October Revolution 1917), floral pattern to case, ornate 12-hour dial with Roman numerals and second hand sub-dial at 9 o’clock. The Molnija clock and watch factory was opened on November 17, 1947. The company's main customer was then the Soviet Union Department of Defence, providing them with wrist watches, pocket watches and table clocks. Unique clocks were also produced specifically for use in Soviet tanks, fighter aircraft, submarines and, eventually, spacecraft.
