A very old beaded collar/necklace that is beaded with tiny glass beads and cut steel beads on fine mesh - a technique used mid-20th century of the 20th century. As a jewelry designer who has collected and used beads for many years I can say the glass and cut steel beads on this are quite old and the steel beads have the patina of age which gives the piece a kind of neo-Victorian look.The work on this is exacting as each tiny bead must be sewn onto the fine mesh separately. This has a silver metal chain closure which can adjust the length of this piece depending on where it is closed. The artisan who made this left a bit of mesh showing on the edges of the piece which emphasizes the handmade look and quality. In good condition.
