This is a wonderful silver plated water pitcher with a great floral design etched onto the sides. The pitcher stands 0ver 13" tall. The base is just under 7" in diameter. From handle to spout is about 9.5" across. There are markings on the bottom. It says Marmod and Jaccard & Co. St Louis MO. Quadruple Plate 385. Quadruple plated means that there is 4X the thickness of a regular silver plate item with a 0.0012" thick layer of silver. There are ornate decorations on the handle and spout as well as around the diameter of the lid and the upper base. You can see the decorative finial on the top of the lid as well. There are some minor scratches, a few small pits, and a couple of small dents, but overall it is in good condition. I have purposely not cleaned any of the tarnish. The Mermod Jaccard & Co. company was formed in 1873, and there were several versions of the company when different family members formed different iterations of the company. But it is believed that in 1905 when the Mermod Jaccard & King company was formed in 1905, the Mermod Jaccard & Co markings ceased. So this piece is at least 116 years old.
