It is made from a gold coloured metal and has a long, stick pin fastener. The badge face is 1.6cm wide and features the familiar stereo logo. Historical Background Meopta were formed in Prerov, Czechoslovakia in 1933 under the name Optotechnica and in 1946 they were nationalised by the socialist government of the time becoming Meopta. Meopta would go on to produce a large variety of optical products; photo enlargers, lenses, military scopes, cameras and stereo Viewmasters Meopta were a very large company in the 1950s producing optical products for the whole of the Warsaw pact military. They were the only Eastern European company making cinema projectors so Meopta projectors could be found in every cinema in the region around this time. They manufactured a wide range of stereo optical products such as the twin lens (TLR) cameras called Flexaret and Stereo Viewmasters similar to those produced in the USA called Meoskop. Meopta are still around today, though on a much smaller scale to that of the 1960's and 1970's. They supply mainly to the military and have several large contracts with European governments.
