Vintage MALENA Porcelain doll by Vera Scholz (1991) VGC, Rare and Discontinued

Description: Vintage MALENA Porcelain doll by Vera Scholz (1991) VGC, Rare and Discontinued Malena is a beautiful doll by the world renowned German artist Vera Scholz. In 1987 Vera began to model her dolls out of porcelain working partly from photographs of children. This doll is marked on the back "Malena by Vera Scholz 1991 Otto Lindemann GMBH" (distributor). Vera Scholz' initials with the numbers 4/5 are just below. Malena was designed as a sitting doll but does well on a stand too. She is poseable as shown in the pics. She measures 30" standing and 16" sitting down with cloth body, shoulder and poseable porcelain head, 1/2 porcelain legs and arms. This beautiful doll is uniquely beautiful, expertly sculpted and painted to look like the child doll that she is. Her facial paint is very delicately applied, not overdone. She has unique grayish green eye color, I hope all this is visible in the pictures when you zoom in. I gave Malena a new wig, which I did not glue just in case the new owner wants to change the wig color or style. Malena is dressed very fashionably in a real child Battenberg lace ensemble from the high end boutique named "Rendezvous, Inc." in New Orleans. I added the green beaded necklace that has a glittery clip firefly because it enhanced the green in her eyes. Please note the back of the dress has a stain, see red circle pic, which I did not see until I was doing her pics. As shown the ensemble is made of sturdy cotton fabrics, and includes lace trimmed pantaloons, a slip, and that beautiful Battenberg lace dress, and white lacy socks with shoes that looked new. After taking the doll outside I found the dress stain, and could tell her dress could use a wash. She was likely on display before I got her. I did not see any issues with this doll, she is adorable and photographs very well, I got carried away. If her marks are correct, and she is #4 of 5 dolls, you will be hard pressed to find another like her. I know I looked and did not find a "Malena" like her. I found other Malena sculpts, by Vera Scholz, but none like this one. These molds are discontinued and are very hard to find. Walterhauser (WPM) has been producing the Vera Scholz dolls since around 1993 and mostly in vinyl, so this is one of the artist's earlier dolls. I do not have Malena's box or any papers, but she will come with a big stand, even though she is a sitting doll, and will have a sturdy box to travel in. Malena is a heavy doll, and her box is 32" long, so don't be scared when you see the ship price, which includes the extra insurance on the doll.
