Description: This is an early example of a No 8 Lodge "High Self Basting" skillet cover that was produced sometime between 1920 to the 1930. It is full restored and so finely cast that it has a polished feel to it. Unfortunately, there are two cracks (see photos). It has been sitting in my pile of accumulated cracked items for years and I decided to clean it and see if I can find it a new home. Some of my favorite cast iron cookware is cracked and I have been using them for years. So, don't let a few crack scare you off. This cover will perform for many more decades to come. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light. Photos are part of the item’s description. Please use them for a clearer understanding of items overall condition. If you have any questions, please let me know.
