Many luxury watch brands have, in the past, and some still do use LeCoultre movements. A Lecoultre watch is about understated complications and sophistication. This watch has a caliber 813 movement, which is difficult to find without the up/down indicator. Why? The earlier versions were just like the Omega bumpers in that if you weren't pretty energetic they would not stay wound up or wind themselves automatically. However, the caliber 813 with date is a more modern execution. I am old and lazy and it runs on my wrist! Finding a watch with an 813 movement in this condition is super rare! The caliber 813 movement in this watch is spotless. Please our super large pictures for all parts of this watch. This combination is really hard to find in the first place and almost impossible to find in this condition. The serial number of the watch 1,270,192 and the case reference is 326 This watch has been worn very gently and only has marks that are very, very, light except for one or two on the case back were someone used the wrong wrench to open it instead of noticing the screw in back. The crown and crystal are designed to be water resistant and the case back has a gasket. We have not tested the water resistance. However, this scratch is superficial and we only mention it because some people are very fussy about watches they put in their collection. The solid stainless steel case is beautiful!! As per the fashion of its day, the stainless steel case has different colored hands and markers. This watch has gold luminous hands and gold markers. The dial has a very minute (look at under a loupe) patina on the main body of the dial. The crystal is clear and the stainless steel crown is signed A VERY, VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF A VERY VINTAGE WATCH THAT FILLED A PLACE IN HOROLOGICAL TECHNOLOGY! The development of the bumper almost killed the development of the automatic watch. However, the caliber 813 LeCoultre was, in my humble opinion, the first bumper that didn't require jumping jacks to keep it wound. The watch runs exceptionally well and the average office worker could keep it wound up.
