Almost all cartridges will have passed expiration date, but this print sample was printed with an expired cartridge and printed just fine. The button plastic cover is loose because the adhesive is dried up, but does not affect the printer in any way. This takes 5 C cell batteries. You can use Eneloop adapters, but they are a tight squeeze. For AC power, this takes 9V, negative center tip at 1 amp.
