Description: Antique Brown & Cream Ironstone Gravy Boat/Tureen with Lid and Underplate. I believe this is from James Kent. Transfer pattern of English peas in dark brown. Mark on the bottom shows it was made March 3, 1874. Part of the Aesthetic Period of Ironstone manufacture. Boat/tureen measures 8" long x 4 1/2" wide. Underplate measures 8 1/2" x 6 1/2". The lid measures 6" x 4". Pictures show the piece to be white, whereas it is really cream. Transfer patterns are very dark brown. It was sold with a dark brown ladle which is more modern than the ironstone set. Previously owned but in excellent condition. I found some light crazing and a few marks on the bottom, but no chips or cracks. Transfer pattern designs still bright. Stored in my smoke-free home.
