Description: Beautiful vintage1-1/4" handmade machined iron hole punch. Could be used for hole punching in tin, gaskets or leather. The punch is 1-1/2" in diam at the punch end tapered down to produce a 1-1/4" punch out--the shaft is tooled down to 7/8" and the overall length is 7-1/2" long--weight is 1lb & 11oz--I used this piece of leather to show what it will cut through with a 3# hammer with ease. The leather is a strong dense 1/4" thick and was used as a prop to show tool performance. No doubt it was also used to punch holes in gaskets and sheet tin.-- My guess is that this tool was made pre 1950--there are no markings on the punch to determine its origin but was most like made by a machinist that worked in a mill because it came with other machinist iron tools of similar style.
