Vintage Heyde Metal Inkwell, Kingfisher Sitting on a Branch with a Large Walnut

Description: This auction is for a vintage metal, hand painted inkwell. It features a Kingfisher sitting on a branch next to an unusually large walnut. The walnut is hinged and opens to feature the inkwell. At first I thought it was a hummingbird, to scale with the walnut, but the bird is certainly a Kingfisher, so perhaps there is some old German folktale being illustrated here, or they just weren't concerned with scale. This piece was made in Germany by the Heyde company, sometime pre-WW2 (Heyde was very active in the early 1900's, but did not make it out of WW2). In the 2nd to the last picture I show these pieces piece with a ruler (the piece is about 4.25" wide at the widest, and just under 3" to the top of the bird's head). In the last picture I show this with a 2 1/8" tall Vienna Bronze Dachshund. That Doxie is shown for size reference only and is not included in this auction. Payments made later in the week or purchases made from my store are shipped as soon as I can get to the Post Office, but that can take several days. I combine shipping on all purchases made and paid for at the same time (unless you're combining a book and toys as books use inexpensive media mail in the U.S. while toys can't). I use First Class (up to 16 oz) and Priority mail. Books ship media mail. I only charge actual postage - no added fees. I use lots of bubble wrap, peanuts, and good boxes. In a group of multiple pieces each item is wrapped individually. Original boxes or other original paper item go into a plastic bag in case you get delivery on a rainy day. International Shipping: I gladly ship international. Please note that there can be lengthy delays at Customs. I use a loupe to examine the toys while I'm listing them and I try and mention the significant condition issues I see.
