Can also be used as a table/mantle candle holder. With the Bucks County, PA stamp impression on rear dated 2003. Overall very good condition with one or two minor chips as photographed and other wear consistent with age and use. Measures - 10.5"h x 4.25"w x 3"d Henry Mercer (American, 1856-1930) American anthropologist, artifact collector & tile maker active during the Arts & Crafts movement. He built Fonthill Castle (his home) the Mercer museum & the Moravian tile works in Doylestown PA. His handmade tiles were either his original designs or based on historical models he had adapted. Mercer tiles can still be found in many historic buildings such as the Isabella Stewart Gardner’s Fenway Museum, the John D. Rockefeller estate (New York), National Press Club (Wash. DC), State Capitol Building (Harrisburg, PA)
