Description: 20 foot classic microphone cable assembly made with Vintage Gotham GAC-3 cable from Austria and new Switchcraft AAA3BZ ( silver contacts) series xlr’s. Switchcraft's AAA connector design provides superior protection against RFI. Assembled with grounded shield (KH option) as per the original Neumann and Gotham recommendations for best protection against Radio Frequency Interference. In the fall of 2023 we purchased a large stock of vintage cable assemblies in a liquidation sale. A company in Boston had originally purchased these in the 1980's and early 1990's -- the assemblies had been fabricated with GAC-3 cable from the Austrian factory in Klosterneuburg just north of Vienna that had been manufacturing cable for Gotham Audio since the 1970's. In the 21st Century the Swiss Gotham company shifted production to Istanbul, Turkey and the original Austrian cable became a rare and highly valued item that has always been a sought- after vintage product, prized by leading recording engineers and Neumann microphone enthusiasts. The last time we had any of the Austrian GAC-3 was back in 2012 !! We are so happy to have found a small stock of this wonderful rare cable in good condition! GAC-3 is the the classic three conductor design developed for Neuman microphones in the 1970s, featuring 96 strand conductors & Double Reussen Shielding for best flexibility . These supple and lightweight cables have long been the cable of choice for the worlds finest microphones. It is a neutral sounding cable with a highly detailed mid range and a natural top end. Their uncolored reproduction and remarkably effective shielding have made these favorites in recording studios and it’s not uncommon to find 20 to 30 year old GAC-3 assemblies still in regular use.
