The ornate front flowers and leaves design as well as the carved rope edge is applied gold leaf. There are two small hooks screwed into the top shelf for mounting on the wall. The top of the shelf is a burgundy color. There are two drips of black paint on the top side of the shelf from when it was made. This can be seen in the last photo. Please see photos. Note: The shelf was purchased at an estate sale. I was told it was purchased in Spain and is vintage.
