Description: This vintage loose powder compact bears only a Pat. No 1989155 issued to George Rosenberg on Jan.29. 1935. He was a designer and one of the founders of REX NOVELTY WORKS. This 2 1/4" round compact was made for loose powder but looks like it never held any. since the puff and screen look clean. Outside it has a mirror on one side, a romantic scene under celluloid enhanced by black enamel and gold paint as a border. Can't really tell what technique was used to create the scene?? The round edge is embossed all around. There is another mirror inside. While the compact shows signs of having been handled and carried, it is in really nice condition for the age.
